ootup iruses

Bootup viruses have the ability to run as long as the computer is turned on because they are in the computer's memory. Therefore, they could replicate themselves easier. These types of viruses have been reduced in recent years due to the increased use of CDs as well as the newer operating systems protecting the boot sector.

One way for computers to get infected during the bootup/startup process is to leave a floppy disk in the disk drive containing a virus. When the computer boots, the virus can then get into the boot sector which guarantees the virus program will run when the computer is turned on.
