CSCI 106: Intro to Computers

Projects from Fall 2001

This was the first term that required web projects from each student. Students selected material that they felt comfortable with and coded their web page so that it would "teach" their audience what they learned. The following categories classify the projects that resulted. The quotations are from the students' reports and indicate their web page's intended audience.

Note: Some pages are "under construction" (uc) because the authors need to clarify or reformat their web pages before they can be posted.

  • Overview of Course Material
    • (uc) Zehra: "[This page is for] the students at the College of St. Catherine. This page should be useful to any student who plans on taking the course."

  • History
    • (uc) Catherine: "My web page is for those who are interested in the history of technology of the computer"

    • Colleen: "The audience I would like to address is the general audience. I think the graphics and definitions are understandable for both the computer illiterate as well as the computer literate persons to understand."
    • (uc) Mary: "I decided on children, second grade and above [for my audience]."
    • Emi: "[This page is]an interative page for 3rd and 4th graders that taught them how a computer is similar to their body."
    • (uc) Kunthea: "[This web page is] for anybody who [has] just started to learn the computer."

    • Cari: "[This page teaches] some basics about HTML. ... I wanted to address an audience of pre-teens to young adults."
    • Sarah: "I created a site that teaches kids about encryption through the basic concept of encoding letters."
