Reading Requirement for ALL Students

The Minnesota Board of Teaching recently adopted a new rule requiring ALL licensure candidates to have preparation in the teaching of reading.

If you currently hold a Minnesota license in elementary education or if you were licensed in another field after 9/1/01, you have already met this requirement.

If you were licensed in a field other than elementary education prior to 9/1/01, you will need to demonstrate that you have satisfied the reading requirement. You can accomplish this by taking EDUC 755 Reading in the Content Areas. Please see your academic advisor immediately to determine whether this new rule applies to you.
