LIS 7230: Services for Children and Young Adults

Biography

I worked in a medical library for 8 years before discovering my true passion - youth services librarianship. I am Youth Services Supervisor at Stillwater Public Library, where I've worked since 1990 with children of all ages and their parents and caregivers. I taught "Library Services to Children and Young Adults" for the CSC/Dominican University program in 2004, 2005, and 2008.

I had the honor of serving on the 2002 Newbery Award Committee for the American Library Association and have organized local Newbery, Caldecott, and Printz mock discussions for teachers and librarians since 1997. I am an active member of the Children and Young People's Section of the Minnesota Library Association, and am a frequent program planner and presenter at MLA Conferences. I have been a panel member for "Booked for the Evening: Children's and Young Adult Literature Review," sponsored by the CSC Alumnae Association, since the program's inception in 2002.

When I am not reading children's and teen books, I can be found thrashing through the woods at the Dog Park, puttering in my St. Paul garden, or chuckling at the antics at Dunder Mifflin.
