Transferring Credits

Once you have been admitted to the MLIS program, you may apply to transfer up to 6 credits in fulfillment of your degree requirements. The credits you wish to transfer must at minimum meet these conditions:

  1. The credits were completed within five years of enrolling at the College of St. Catherine.
  2. The credits were earned at a program accredited by the American Library Association.
  3. The credits were awarded a grade of B or better.

The MLIS Department does not award graduate credit for work experience. Additionally, credits from such programs as Credit for Academically Relevant Learning (CARL) or College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) cannot be applied to the MLIS degree.

If the credits you wish to transfer meet the guidelines, please download the MLIS Petition to Transfer Credit form, fill it out, and return it to the MLIS Office at the College of St. Catherine:
