MLIS Degree Requirements


Degree requirements are:
  1. Completion of a minimum of 36 semester credits, with a minimum of 30 semester credits completed in the MLIS program. See the MLIS web page Transferring Credits.
  2. Attainment of a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  3. Satisfactory completion of the core courses: LIS 7010, 7030, 7040 and one of the following: LIS 7700 (for MLIS students) or LIS 7730 (for students seeking MN School Library Media licensure).
  4. Completion of the degree program within five years or six summers.
  5. Students completing the DU Track MLIS degree are required to take a minimum of four courses taught by Dominican University faculty. Fall 2006 was the last semester students were accepted for the DU track. A variety of options are available to students to meet this requirement. These options include but are not limited to:
    1. Taking courses taught by Dominican University faculty on the St. Catherine University campus. Fall 2008 is the last semester this option will be available.
    2. Taking courses from Dominican University available through interactive video and/or other technologies. Fall 2008 is the last semester this option will be available.
    3. Taking an independent study with a Dominican University faculty member following completion of a course taught by the same faculty member.
    4. Completing four courses in residence on the Dominican University campus.
