Student Jobs & Internships

Job experience, in addition to an LIS degree from an accredited program, is key to successful employment in the library and information science field.

Students without prior job experience will find a good selection of library paraprofessional positions in the Twin Cities.

Below are the five most important avenues for finding local employment. Should you struggle to find a job through these means, consult the separate job resource page, which provides exhaustive lists of links.

  1. St. Catherine MLIS Jobs and Internships Database - Job and internship postings are updated as soon as they arrive in the office. This database often has jobs and internships specifically for MLIS students.
  2. KatieClick- a great interface makes this job tool essential. Career Development provides handy tips for using KatieClick.
  3. St. Catherine Assistantships - The St. Catherine University Library and individual MLIS faculty are regular providers of assistantships to MLIS students. For more information, go to KatieClick.
  4. Paper Postings - Paper-based job postings are put on our job bulletin board located in the hallway to the MLIS offices. Paper-based internship and volunteer postings are put on our Internships/Volunteer board in the student lounge.
  5. College of St. Catherine's Human Resources web site. Job listings for staff positions may be found there.
