How and When to Register

Introduction

New students register for their first term in the MLIS program by completing a paper registration form. The form and instructions are mailed to new students prior to the first day that registration is available for the upcoming term. Students must complete the form and submit it to the Office of the Registrar, either by mailing the form or bringing it to the office in person.

For subsequent semesters, students register using the online registration system. Students who are not registered for a semester must fill out a Leave of Absence form. If you do not register for a year without the proper forms, you will be dropped from the program. Also if you are dropping your only course for the semester or summer, you will need to fill out a Leave of Absence form. It is the students' responsibilty to turn in these forms. Check here for the Tuition Refund schedule. We are considered a Graduate Day program on the Saint Paul campus for both our evening and weekend courses.

Students should check course prerequisites and take care of any holds before registration. If a student is currently completing a prerequisite for a course offered in the next term, see Registration Tips at the bottom of this page. Holds can be checked by looking up your registration status under the My Education tab in Kateway.

Registration Schedule

On the Registrar's homepage, you can link to registration schedule. Scroll down to the MLIS Summer schedule (under MEETING DATES) for the summer schedule and then further down for the Master of Library and Information Science Web-based Registration Schedule. Earned credits are based on courses you have completed and received a grade.
