Graduating from the MLIS Program

Students who entered the program prior to the fall 2006 semester must give notice of intent both to the College of St. Catherine's MLIS program (by email) and Dominican University's GSLIS program (by mailing the form, linked to below).

Students completing the Dominican University track

Email imdept-at-stkate.edu (replace -at- with @) with the following:"DU Intent to Graduate" in the subject line of your email, and name, student ID, and date of graduation (i.e. December 2008) in the body of the email.
Make sure you've completed the computer competency requirement (Required if you entered the program prior to fall 2004). Download and follow these instructions to complete the requirement.
Mail the Intent to Graduate form to Dominican University-GSLIS, Office of the Registrar, 7900 West Division Street, River Forest, IL 60305. Check the Dominican University calendar for their deadline. Tip: Make a copy of the filled out form for your records.
Check your CSC student account. You will be billed a $100 graduation fee and a statement will be mailed to you later in the semester.

Students completing the College of St. Catherine track

Students who entered Fall 2006 and after are on the College of Saint Catherine track. Students should begin considering the graduation process at least one semester ahead of the semester they would like to graduate. The deadline for graduating in May is the preceding November 30 and the deadline to graduate December is the preceding May 15.

Please fill out this form through Kateway at http://kateway.stkate.edu. It is listed in the My Education tab and then the online forms. Deadlines for the Declaration of Intent to Graduate form are May 15 for fall Semester graduation and November 30 for winter Semester graduation
Send a resume to the MLIS office and complete the Outcome Survey one week before Commencement. The Outcome survey is available in the MLIS Office.

Commencement Details

Commencement date is Thursday, December 18, 2008.

The Student Center and Activities department is responsible for details surrounding graduation day. Details should emerge at the Commencement web page as the Commencement date gets closer.

The MLIS program will also hold a reception for graduates. The December Graduate Recption will be held on Monday, December 15 from 6:30-8:00pm in CdC 401 and the 4th floor Atrium.

DU track students have the additional opportunity to participate in Commencement at Dominican University on January 10, 2009. If you are interested, you should contact Dominican University GSLIS.

Finishing Coursework in the Summer

Dominican University Track Students

Dominican University has three dates when degree completions are posted on transcripts: December, May and August. The College of St. Catherine has two commencement ceremonies to recognize degree completions, one in December and one in May.

If you take four credits or less during the summer session to complete your MLIS degree, you are invited to walk in the College of St. Catherine May ceremony. Your diploma and transcript from Dominican University will be dated August 2008.

If you take more than four credits during the summer session to complete your MLIS degree, you are invited to walk in the College of St. Catherine December ceremony. Your diploma and transcript from Dominican University will be dated August 2008.

College of St. Catherine Track Students
