Research

This page contains research projects that I am involved with as well as educational research that you might find useful. Current Research that I am involved with:

Anaglyph Map Study What are anaglyph maps? These are maps which appear in 3-dimensions when you wear the 3D glasses you wear at a 3D movie. I was involved with some research about using these maps in five schools around the metro. A team of researchers from St. Kate's, the University of Minnesota Geology Dept., and the National Center for Earth Dynamics were involved in the research. Click here for a draft article about the research.

WARIE (Women As Researchers in Environments) Project

This project recieved funding from the Women's Foundation of Minnesota. It allowed the purchase of equipment to be used in science methods courses in the Education Department as well as in the Biology, Chemistry and Physics Departments.

An additional grant was also received from the CSC Centers of Excellence (COE). This grant allowed faculty from Biology, Chemistry and Education to meet and discuss collaboration and changes in science instruction. Click here to see a copy of the COE report.

From the meetings, an opportunity was offered to an education student to work with Dr. Gina Mancini-Samuelson, Chemistry, on water quality analysis of the Dew Drop on the campus. Christine Isenberg, an elementary education major, conducted water quality tests on the Dew Drop with Dr. Mancini-Samuelson over the summer months of 2003. Click here to see a Powerpoint presentation of Christine Isenberg's work

In addition, a biology student, Colleen Anderson, created a Plant Identification webguide for plants in the 'Big Woods' on the St. Paul campus. Click here for that site.
