You found White Vervain (Verbena urticifolia). 

 

 

 

 

The plant has tall thin spikes of white flowers (8). The flowers bloom in June through August. The leaves are lance-shaped and toothed (10). The leaves are in an opposite arrangement.  It is found in open woods. It is found from New Brunswick to Nebraska and Florida to Texas.
