Stiff Goldenrod
You found Stiff goldenrod (Solidago rigida).
Also known as Hard-leaf goldenrod, this plant grows many small yellow flowers that form a flat cluster (13). The flowers bloom in the summer and fall. The leaves are blade-like and rough to the touch. The stem is hard, coarse and hairy (8). This plant grows in prairies, thickets and open woods.
