You found Smartweed (Polygonum persicaria).

Also called Lady’s Thumb, this plant grows a spike of pink or white flowers (8). The flowers grow atop thin, pinkish stems. It flowers from June to October.  The plants grow 1 to 4 feet high and have alternate arrangement of leaves (13). The leaves are 2-6 inches long and are lance-shaped.  It is an invasive species.
