Choke Cherry
You found Choke cherry (Prunus virginiana).
It grows as a shrub or small tree (7). It produces flowers in the early summer. The fruit is a drupe that is mature in the mid- to late summer (2). The seeds are dropped underneath the parent plant and are spread by animals. It is found throughout southern Canada and most of the United States.
