Bigtooth Aspen
You found Bigtooth aspen (Populus grandidentata).
This medium to large tree grows 40 to 60 feet tall (7). The leaves are alternate, simple and grow 2 to 6 inches long. There are large curved teeth on the edges of the leaves. The flowers are catkins that are produced in the early spring (5). The fruit are long capsules with many tiny cottony seeds.
