American Elm
You found American elm (Ulmus americana).
Also known as a White elm, it is a large tree that grows to 50-70 feet tall (7). The leaves are alternate, simple and feature an uneven base. It produces fruit in the early spring. The bark is dark gray with deep ridges (1).
