Located in the Twin Cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minn., the College of St. Catherine is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive Catholic college for women. Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1905, St. Kate’s offers traditional, four-year liberal arts programs as well as non-traditional opportunities to pursue associate, weekend baccalaureate and graduate degrees and certificates in the liberal arts, healthcare and other professional programs.

The College of St. Catherine teaches its students to lead and influence, to think critically and creatively, and to demonstrate ethical leadership grounded in social responsibility.

When the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet founded the College under the leadership of Mother Seraphine Ireland, they drew inspiration from St. Catherine of Alexandria, a fourth-century Egyptian lay philosopher who suffered martyrdom for her Catholic faith. In the bold tradition of Saint Catherine and the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet, St. Kate’s remains committed to meeting the educational needs of all women — no matter their age, faith, race, heritage or economic situation. The College admits men to its associate and graduate degree programs.

The College offers many of its baccalaureate, associate, certificate, master’s and doctorate degree programs in both traditional and weekend formats. With park-like campuses in both St. Paul and Minneapolis, the College enrolls 5,238 students.
