Frequently
Asked Questions:
What
determines how much financial aid I'll get?
The Office of Financial Aid looks at such factors as income, assets
and the number of dependents or other family members in college to determine
how much you (or your family) will be expected to contribute toward your education. If
you are over age 23 or have dependents (spouse and/or children), youll
be considered an independent student, and financial aid will be based
solely on your income and circumstances. Your share of the cost is subtracted
from the total cost of attending the College of St. Catherine program
you have chosen.
When
will I receive my financial aid award?
About two weeks after we have a complete application.
See How
to Apply for application instructions and materials.
Do I
have to reapply for financial aid every year?
Yes, each years financial aid is based on the prior years
family income.
Is it
possible to appeal my financial aid award?
You should notify the financial aid office in writing if your financial
situation changes. The loss of employment, a change in the number of
family members attending college, the death of a parent or spouse, or
other significant change in family financial strength may enable the
college to re-evaluate your award.
How
will my share of college costs be billed?
All tuition and fees are due at the beginning of each semester. Arrangements
for deferred payment are made in advance with the college business office.
There is a finance charge for deferred payment arrangements. The college
also accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards for
the payment of tuition, fees and books.
What
if the available aid doesnt cover all my costs?
You may make arrangements with the student accounts office to make monthly
payments. However, each term must be paid for before the next begins.
Is there
any funding for students with disabilities?
The Division of Rehabilitation Services provides some funding for students
with disabilities. We can help you contact a DRS counselor.
Is there
any help available for single-parent students?
Yes, our Access and Success program provides
comprehensive support for single-parent students at the college. It
helps provide access to affordable housing and child care in addition
to other unique student support services.
