Professional Certificate — Coding Specialist
Take part-time evening courses to begin a career as a coding specialist or to expand your professional skills. Salaries begin at about $25,000 a year.

Coding specialists assign code numbers to the diagnoses, treatments and services provided by the medical team and are employed by clinics, nursing homes and physicians’ offices. The Coding Specialist program includes classroom work as well as supervised clinical experience.

 

For expanded career opportunities, you can choose to complete an associate of applied science degree in the Health Information Specialist program and go on to earn a bachelor’s degree in the Health Information Management program, offered by Weekend College on the St. Paul campus.
