Studs Terkel,
1912 - 2008

Studs Terkel (May
16, 1912 - October 31, 2008), author,
radio host, and oral historian, died at the age of 96 in his home
in Chicago. His work was honored with a Peabody Award for
excellence in journalism in 1980, a Pulitzer Prize in 1985, and
the National Book Foundation Medal in 1997. In addition to
his own radio show in Chicago, he made several guest appearances
on A Prairie Home Companion.
His latest book, P.S.
Further Thoughts From a Lifetime of Listening, was released November
3, 2008.
