About Jon Hassler

Jon Hassler was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and graduated from St. John's University in 1955. He taught high school English, was a faculty member at Bemidji State University and Brainerd Community College, and was a writer-in-residence at St. John's University. Hassler's writing is subtle, quiet, and takes no political opinion. Several of his novels are "Catholic" including Simon's Night, Green Journey, North of Hope, and Dear James, many of them starring Agatha McGee, one of his most beloved characters. He may well come to be reocognized as a major Twentieth Century novelist. (from Contemporary Novelists, 7th Edition)
