About the Registry of Nursing Research
The Registry of Nursing Research is an electronic research
database that is maintained by Sigma Theta Tau International, the International
Honor Society of Nursing.
The Registry contains biographical data about nurse researchers,
their research programs and studies, and results of their studies. It
is constructed from data contributed by the nurse researchers themselves,
including abstracts and information about related studies.
Because the data for each study is supplied by the researcher,
the amount and completeness of information varies from study to study.
Some of the studies listed in the Registry have been published in the
nursing literature and can be located using CINAHL, the Cumulative Index
to Nursing and Allied Health.
Accessing the Registry
The College of St. Catherine Libraries subscribe to the
Registry and make it available to current students, faculty and staff
of the College. The Registry may be searched from any on campus computer
or from an off campus computer via the CSC proxy server.

Searching the Registry
The Registry of Nursing Research keeps information about
nurse researchers, their research studies and projects, and the results
of the studies. The Registry supports four types of searches.
- Search by Researcher and Demographics
- Search for a specific researcher (or for other selected
biographic data.) This search will return a listing of all instances
the search term or name is located in the Registry.
- Any of the following fields can be searched: name, work
title, work institution, city, state/province, country, highest degree,
discipline of degree and associations.
- Search by Study Details
- This form allows you to search a study by the following
fields: study title, study sample, study type, program of research,
framework, research domain, study funding sources, data collection sites,
population, study funding sources, amount of funding study, sample plan
and type of sample.
- Search by Study Variables/Concepts
- This search will return a listing of all studies in
which the variable or concept of interest is studied. Select Browse
the Index to see the alphabetical list of variables and to search on
a variable.
- Search by Keywords
- This search will return a listing of all studies in
which the keyword you select is listed in the title of the study, as
a research variable or concept, or as a descriptor named by the researcher
for use in indexing. You can select which of these fields you wish to
search.
-
Subject Searching
The best ways to search the Registry by subject are to use
either a Keyword search or a Study Variables/Concepts Search.
Since not all studies have variable/concepts listed, a Keyword
search is generally more successful.
Select Keywords from among the list of search options.
Type in the search terms, the fields to be searched and
the options, as below.
