Making Connections to your developing career goals.

Participate in a learning community. Check out the options in Core Minors, listed in the Undergraduate Academic Catalog, Minor's Section.
Complete the online change-of-major/advisor form on the Academic Advising website to update your major and faculty advisor.
Work with the Office of Global Studies to plan a study-abroad experience – consider a year, a semester, a J-term or summer study abroad program.
Meet with your advisor to discuss your educational plan and identify an appropriate time to conduct an internship.
Learn important skills in a financial management course.
Explore January-term course options with your advisor.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

Apply for student employment, internships and jobs by logging in to KatieClick and completing your profile.
Participate in sophomore programs offered by the Career Development Office. Clarify your focus and chart your progress toward a satisfying major and potential career.
Attend the annual Career Opportunities Fair. Learn about internships and employment opportunities.
Register for the Shadow Program in October. Spend a day with a St. Kate's graduate in a career field you are considering.
If you are still deciding on a major, meet with a career counselor. Consider taking an interest inventory to identify how your interests relate to academic majors.

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS

Sign up and get involved with campus organizations and groups at the Activities Fair in September.
Act on our community's commitment to justice through servicelearning opportunities including Volunteers in Action, justice learning and outreach trips and off-campus student employment opportunities, such as America Reads.

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT

Join in ministry at Mass on Sunday morning or at the evening ecumenical service (sing, play an instrument or read). Help lead a retreat, co-lead a faith-sharing group and/or grow by sharing privately with a spiritual mentor.
Consider becoming a student leader on a justice learning and outreach trip if you attended one as a first-year student.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Build on your leadership skills. Take a leadership role in Student Senate, club or organization, LEAD Team, Students Who Are Parents (SWAP), St. Kate's Activities Team (SKAT), or serve as a Student Center Building Manager, an Orientation Leader or in other campus employment positions.
Consider applying to the Assistantship Mentorship Program (AMP) during your junior or senior year; watch for deadlines.

WINTER SEMESTER

ACADEMIC AND ADVISING CONNECTIONS

Enrich your academic experiences: consider studying abroad (Office of Global Studies), conduct research with a faculty member (academic department), plan for an internship (Career Development). Discuss these options with your advisor on the best time to include these opportunities in your educational plan.
Attend the Study Abroad Fair in February. Explore study, internship, service-learning and field research opportunities abroad.
Before reaching junior status (60 credits), complete the petition to major form. Review your academic catalog and Degree Audit, then meet with your major advisor to identify which major, liberal arts core and other graduation requirements you have left to complete.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

Plan to attend the Minnesota Private College Job and Internship Fair and the Idealist Non-Profit Career Fair in the spring to secure a summer internship or job.
Use the Alum Database in the Career Development Office to explore networking connections.
Create an electronic professional e-portfolio. Enroll in the free workshop series offered each semester.
Attend the annual Pathways event to learn about career options in communications, arts or sciences.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Consider research, teaching and program assistantship through the Centers of Excellence and the Student Center and Activities office Assistantship Mentoring Program (AMP).

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT

Participate in the justice learning and outreach trips offered in January and March through Campus Ministry Center.
