She authored the groundbreaking analysis, White Privilege:
Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack, which explored the impact
of privilege in discussions of gender and race. She is founder and
co-director of the National S.E.E.D. (Seeking Educational Equity
and Diversity) Project and Associate Director of the Wellesley Centers
for Women.
Proceeds from both events support the Minnesota Inclusiveness Program,
the first state branch of the National S.E.E.D Project. The S.E.E.D
project helps teachers create their own year-long, school based
seminars on making school climates, K-12 curricula and teaching
methods more gender fair and multiculturally equitable.
The Minnesota Inclusiveness Program (MIP) is dedicated to empowering
and enriching the lives of early childhood through college level
students throughout the state of Minnesota. Educators, administrators,
professors, parents and community leaders are trained to provide
a teaching process and curricula that reflect the contributions
and stories of all peoples according to race, gender, socioeconomic
structures and special needs. MIP has proudly been making a difference
in the lives of students and educational professionals since its
inception in 1992.
