Groundbreaking and Blessing of Site
On
April 14, the College of St. Catherine celebrated the groundbreaking

Cities Habitat for Humanity. The presentation included a Native
American purification ceremony and the Red
Lake Nation Native American family who will eventually own
the home on St. Paul’s eastside. The family who has
four daughters was presented with gifts from the College.
The Eastside Development Company and St. Paul American Indians
in Unity were instrumental in obtaining the property on St.
Paul’s eastside. The groundbreaking was led by:

Humanity
- Sister

andChair

The
College’s centennial committee approved the Habitat
for Humanity project to celebrate the St. Catherine’s
tradition of service, to give back to the community that has
helped build the College of St. Catherine over the past 100
years, to make visible the social justice teachings of the
College and its founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet,
and to lead and influence the conversation on the need for
affordable housing.
