Trivia
Question
What event was held each year in May and included several fun activities and events?

Answer: May Fete

Excerpt from More than a Dream: Eighty-five years at the College of St. Catherine by Rosalie Ryan, CSJ, and John Christine Wolkerstorfer, CSJ, 1992

An annual celebration held at the beginning of May, the fete was an all-day fair with booths for food, raffles, and games. Some years students paid a penny to wrap themselves in a sheet and slide down the spiral fire escape installed in Derham Hall in 1944-45. In others, faculty members might be "arrested" and held in a mock jjail until they could persuade onlookers to post their bail or pay a fine.

An outdoor supper usually followed a parade through campus of clowns and floats, presented by the clubs of the college at 5 p.m. The evening of May Fete featured the Senior Varsity Show including performances by students. Members of the faculty and staff were often targets of the student satire.
