Academic Support

Academic advisers are specially trained to help you make the transition to college, offer guidance as you choose a major and assist you with class registration.

As a freshman or transfer student, you are assigned an academic adviser. Plus, you also get assigned to advising groups of approximately 10 students drawn from your "The Reflective Woman" core class.

St. Kate's also provides resources to help you achieve your academic potential. Here are a few examples of these programs:

  • Abigail Quigley McCarthy Center for Women
    Affirms the dignity of women and fostering their spiritual and intellectual potential.

  • O'Neill Center for Academic Development
    Offers programs, services and facilities promoting academic achievement through the Writing/Reading Center, the Math Center and Resources for Disabilities.

  • Wisdom Ways Resource Center for Spirituality (Co-sponsored by the college and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet-St. Paul Province)
    Provides programs and services focused on: Women's Spirituality, Spirit and Work, and Emerging Streams.

  • Minnesota Center for Health Care Ethics
    Conducts seminars, conferences and collaborative research projects focused on ethical issues in health care. Three collaborating institutions:

    • College of St. Catherine and
      Sisters of St. Joseph

    • Fairview-University Medical Center

    • HealthEast



State-of-the-art video and telecommunications equipment enable students to learn via distance-learning programs.
