Why St. Kate's
St. Kate's theater program offers you the opportunity to study theater and music in a liberal arts environment amid the Twin Cities’ arts-rich community.
The carefully structured curriculum culminates in a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Theater. Students who wish to minor in theater can concentrate their studies in performance or theater studies.
Hands-on production experience
As a theater music student, you will take on roles and production responsibilities that give you the opportunity to practice skills and learn the art of collaboration. St. Kate's provides hands-on experiences by offering multiple acting, directing, choreographing, producing and writing opportunities.
Internships offer possibilities
Each year, the Department of Music and Theater receives invitations for students to participate in various internship opportunities with theaters or performing arts companies in the Twin Cities. Many acclaimed theaters are a short drive from St. Kate's including The Guthrie Theater, the Children's Theater Company, Jungle Theater, Chanhassen Dinner Theater, Mixed Blood and Park Square Theater.
Many St. Kate's graduates have established meaningful careers in this competitive field and have had notable success nationally and locally in theater, film and television. In addition to alumnae who are employed in the theater profession, our graduates have gone on to work in a variety of other careers including medicine, law, education and business.
Students in Music Theater may prepare for a variety of career goals including: work as a member of the production staff or as an actor/singer for professional, community and academic theaters; performance in the lucrative commercial, industrial and film markets; and graduate work in directing, acting, voice and dance for theater.
