Science field trips
Field trips are an important part of the learning experience for students in the STEM minor. Twin Cities metro area resources include Mill City Museum, Science Museum of Minnesota, Bakken Museum, Green Institute and Belwin Reserve.
Developing communication strategies
As part of the Robots and the Earth course, students share their work with exhibit designers at the Science Museum of Minnesota, helping them learn to better communicate and market STEM concepts to the public. All courses in the minor develop communication techniques to promote STEM efforts through various media.
Focusing on research
At the National Center for Earth-Surface Dynamics, which has a working lab near St. Anthony Falls in Minneapolis, students observe how scientists do their research.
