Why St. Kate’s

Respiratory care professor Paul LaMere working with students in class

Offering one of the only baccalaureate programs in respiratory care in the upper Midwest, St. Kate’s is a leader in educating respiratory therapists.

A tradition of success

Since the respiratory care program started at St. Kate’s in 1986, graduates have passed the CRT exam (a legal requirement for all RCs) at a rate of 100 percent. You will be ready to begin working right after graduation.

Integration of the liberal arts

The respiratory care major builds upon a broad foundation of coursework in the liberal arts and basic sciences and prepares students to provide comprehensive and holistic care to patients, giving you a broad base of experience in many subjects and making you a well-rounded professional in the field.

Strong clinical foundation

As a respiratory care major at St. Kate’s, you will complete more than 900 hours in a clinical setting, giving you a strong base upon which to build your professional experience. Clinical experiences are completed at nationally recognized sites throughout the Twin Cities.

Expert faculty

Our faculty are highly qualified and utilize various teaching methodologies in presenting course content. The emphasis of faculty expertise is in the areas of critical care, biomedical ethics, pulmonary diagnostics and administration. Respiratory care faculty members are active in medical and community settings and in national professional organizations.
