The OTA Program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) located at 4720 Montgomery Lane, P.O. Box 31220, Bethesda, MD 20824-1220, (301) 652-2682 or TDD (800) 377-8555.
Program outcomes
The total number of graduates who passed the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification examination as first-time, new graduate test takers in 2009-2011 was 28 out of 32, which is a pass rate of 88%. During that 3-year time period, the program had 35 graduates.
Graduates of the program receive an Associate of Applied Science Degree and are eligible to sit for the national certification exam administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, they receive the title of Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
Licensure information
Many states have some form of regulation in order to practice. In Minnesota, occupational therapy personnel must be licensed with the Minnesota Department of Health.
