Why St. Kate’s

St. Kate’s has been a leader in educating nurses in Minnesota for nearly 100 years.

Faculty who specialize in your success

Our nursing faculty is highly qualified and offers innovative and creative approaches to teaching. Faculty members represent several areas of expertise including nursing ethics, research, nursing theory and nursing specialties. In addition, an eight-to-one student-to-faculty ratio in labs allows faculty to work closely with you.

Values-based curriculum

Nursing curriculum at St. Kate’s builds on your liberal arts background, teaching the values of a humanistic, holistic approach to healthcare.

Graduates are prepared to be safe, effective, professional practitioners and to function as responsible members of the nursing profession. We encourage our graduates to continue formal education through advanced study.

Practical preparation for a career

Our comprehensive program integrates classroom instruction with clinical experiences to prepare you for a nursing career in a variety of settings. You will have opportunities to apply your knowledge in areas including medical-surgical, maternity, pediatric, psychiatric and public health nursing.

Practicums are offered at several Twin Cities healthcare facilities including Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Dakota County Public Health Nursing Service, Children’s Hospital-St. Paul and the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview.

Through these clinical experiences, you’ll gain valuable experience working with diverse populations in acute-care and community settings. You also will have access to a nursing laboratory on campus where you can practice assessment and psychomotor skills.
