Nursing

St. Kate's is one of only a handful of colleges or universities in the United States to offer a tiered nursing program with associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.

As a St. Kate’s nurse:

  • You’ll be a leader, capable of inspiring others and influencing the direction of healthcare.
  • You’ll have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • You’ll know how to research questions and analyze data to meet your patients’ needs.
  • You’ll integrate extensive classsroom instruction with valuable clinical experiences.
  • “In healthcare settings I often hear people say, ‘You can always tell St. Kate’s nurses. They’re the ones who know me as a person.”’

    — Alice Swan, associate dean of nursing

  • You’ll think globally and beyond your own experience.

A legacy in nursing

St. Kate’s has been a leader in educating nurses, both women and men, in Minnesota for nearly 100 years.

The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet sponsored the first healthcare education in the state when they founded St. Mary’s School of Nursing in 1887 — on what is now St. Kate's Minneapolis campus.

Over the years, we have continued to stand out as a leader in healthcare. St. Kate's was the first in Minnesota to offer the two-year associate of nursing degree program.
