Private Instruction
Private music lessons are available for majors and non-majors in piano, voice, strings, flute, guitar, organ and harp. You may enroll for 30- or 50-minute lessons. No audition is required for lessons; however, a minimum basic level of music reading skill and musical background is expected.
If you are a beginner and wish to take lessons, in either voice or piano, you should enroll in the Beginning Voice class (MUS 1070) or Beginning Piano class (MUS 1060). To brush up on music reading, enroll in Music Skills I. (For course details, see Music Course Descriptions.)
Registering for Music Lessons
All lessons are listed in the course catalog with the designation MUSL. Lessons in each discipline are numbered progressively: you begin at the 1000 level and move up a level after every two semesters of study.
To register, you must first complete the online course registration and then stop in the departmental office to set up your lesson schedule.
