The Center for Contemporary Montessori Programs at St. Catherine University is where women and men from around the world begin or advance careers in Montessori education.

Earn a Montessori teaching credential

Montessori educators are in demand to guide learning at schools and centers worldwide. Prepare for your Montessori career with a course of study leading to an American Montessori Society (AMS) teaching credential (can include a Master’s degree option): Early Childhood (ages 2.5-6) or Elementary I (ages 6-9) and I-II (ages 6-12). Move into leadership with an AMS Montessori Administrator credential.

Our programs are offered through summer-intensive study in St. Paul, Minnesota. Earn graduate credit or study as a “noncredit” student. The Early Childhood option is also available for undergraduate credit. Graduate credits may be used to satisfy requirements for a St. Kate’s Master of Arts in Education degree.

Advance with a master’s degree

St. Kate’s offers AM2 (Acknowledging Montessori for a Master's), a flexible master’s option for working Montessori teachers from around the world.

If you hold a Montessori credential, St. Kate’s will recognize your prior teacher training (for your AMS, AMI or other accredited credential). Complete your master’s through a one-weekend learning experience in St. Paul, Minnesota and a nine-month, web-based course of study.

Center for Contemporary Montessori Programs

Founded in 1973, the Center for Contemporary Montessori Programs provides quality Montessori teacher education at its home campus in St. Paul, Minnesota and at sites throughout the U.S. Students prepare for credentials from the American Montessori Society (AMS). AMS credentials are the most widely recognized Montessori teaching credentials in the nation.

Our programs are accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) and St. Catherine University is accredited institutionally by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association.
