Why St. Kate’s

Small-group work and discussion are integral elements of MAOL courses

Since 1986, St. Catherine’s Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership (MAOL) program has helped transform working professionals into leaders who thrive amid the challenges, changes and opportunities of today’s workplace.

As the first multidisciplinary master’s level leadership program in the country, our MAOL program has built a stellar reputation by responding to the changing needs of our students and the places they work.

Customizable curriculum

St. Kate’s Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership is all about your career, your life and your goals. You can customize the degree with concentrations of your choosing or a powerful dual leadership/law degree. You also can earn field-specific, graduate-level certificates.

In each case, you’ll gain high-powered credentials and master concepts and skills that enhance contributions in your current work and position you for long-term career growth.

Collaborative classroom environment

MAOL coursework involves teamwork, research, reflection, case studies and role-playing exercises. It’s an active, creative learning style that fits the nature of leadership, which is as much about coaching teams as it is about being the boss.

Averaging 16 students (and capped at 21), St. Kate’s small classes foster creative interaction with other working professionals and your professors.

Faculty who lead from experience

You reap the benefits of St. Kate’s blend of full-time professors and adjunct instructors who are themselves leaders in consulting, entrepreneurial ventures and higher education.

As your teachers, thesis advisers and research supervisors, they are accessible during and outside classes and committed to your success.

Proceeding at your own pace

Most MAOL classes meet every other weekend on Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.

By taking two classes per three-term year, you can complete an MAOL degree in about two years. Alternatively, you can take one class at a time. Once enrolled, you must complete the degree within seven years.

Gaining global exposure

A global perspective is threaded throughout the MAOL curriculum. Compelling elective courses offer study abroad opportunities in Europe, Asia and South America.

A community of confidantes and competence

With an average age of 35 and an average of 10 years of work experience, MAOL students come to class prepared and ready to share work and life experiences, providing an ambitious and supportive community in which you can confidently share who you are and where you’re going.
