As a family and consumer science major, you'll be prepared for careers serving families and communities. With advanced study, you can work in areas such as consumer affairs, family therapy, human services, financial advising, parenting education and library science.

Teaching licensure
Students who complete St. Kate's family and consumer science major and education course sequence meet the requirements for Minnesota licensure in Family and Consumer Science Education as prescribed by the Minnesota Department of Education.
In addition to traditional areas of food, nutrition and clothing, these students are prepared to teach grades 5—12 in areas such as:
- Family life
- Parenting
- Money management
- Housing and interior design
