Exercise Science and Nutrition Major

St. Kate’s exercise science and nutrition major incorporates a variety of courses (24 credits each) from the Departments of Exercise and Sport Science and Family, Consumer and Nutritional Science.

This unique major, which provides an excellent overview of both exercise science and food science, is ideal for students who want to deepen their knowledge of fitness and wellness.

It’s also excellent preparation for graduate school in programs such as exercise physiology or sports medicine and for health science careers in sports medicine, dietetics and injury management.

Graduates often work in health clubs or become personal trainers. You may decide to pursue additional courses in nutrition to receive the licensure required to serve as a nutrition counselor. Nutritionists with the broad education offered by this major are in high demand because many nutritionists do not have a background in exercise science.
