Why St. Kate’s
Student-centered classes, engaged faculty, and plenty of real-world experiences make the economics major an excellent choice.
Learning — in and out of the classroom
As an economics major, you’ll gain practical experience through an internship in your major area. Such experience increases the value you bring to organizations after graduation. Students majoring in economics have interned at large and small corporations in the Twin Cities area, including:
- Wells Fargo Bank
- 3M
- American Red Cross
- Dain Rauscher
- Lucent Technologies
- Green Tree Financial
- Minnesota Department of Transportation
Vibrant classrooms experiences
St. Kate’s is proud to have some of the most knowledgable, student-oriented faculty around. Classes teach both traditional economic theory, but also include social justice perspectives. Discussions, debates, and interactive projects appeal to all styles of learning.
Student connections
You’ll have the opportunity to participate in the Economics Club, which brings students together from the economics, the international business and economics, and the financial economics majors. The club sponsors social events and learning experiences for club members and the rest of the campus.
Campus-wide resources
The Center for Women, Economic Justice and Public Policy also serves as a resource for economics majors. Working with this Center will allow you to apply the analytical skills you learn in economics to issues of social justice.
