Academic Plan
The critical studies of race/ethnicity major is an interdisciplinary major. Many CRST requirements are selected from other academic departments. Upon admission, you will work with an adviser to tailor your courses to fit your individual needs.
The following women's studies courses are required:
- CRST 2050: Foundations of Critical Studies of Race and Ethnicity
- CRST 3510: Sociology of Race and Ethnicity
- CRST 4604: Internship
- CRST 4850: Senior Seminar
- One course from the WOST (Women’s Studies) course listing
Electives, three of which must be upper-division courses, include:
- One course that is global
- Two courses cross-listed in arts and humanities
- Two courses cross-listed in social sciences and sciences
- One course with a race/ethnicity component
- One elective cross-listed with any department and WOST

All of the courses are listed under both the home department and CRST. They should be taken under the CRST department designation.
Writing requirements
CRST majors fulfill the Writing Requirement for Majors by completing CRST 2050: Foundations of Critical Studies of Race and Ethnicity. You fulfill the Liberal Arts and Sciences Core Writing Requirement with three other courses (CORE 1000: The Reflective Woman and CORE 3990: Global Search for Justice, and one other course in this interdepartmental major or another department).
