Core Curriculum

Common classes, strong community

The liberal arts core curriculum at St. Catherine University is anchored by two required multi-disciplinary and writing-intensive courses. The Reflective Woman is a gateway to critical inquiry and a common experience for all entering students. Global Search for Justice, the capstone senior level course, challenges you to apply the lessons of liberal arts education to issues of justice throughout the world.

The core courses are designed to provide common experiences and build community as each student connects with St. Kate's mission through active, multidisciplinary, student-centered learning opportunities.

  • The Reflective Woman (TRW), uniquely responsive to women’s learning needs, guides students to explore issues in the world from liberal arts perspectives and acquire skills in communication, cultural analysis, critical thinking, and information literacy.
  • The Global Search for Justice (GSJ) is a capstone seminar designed as an in-depth examination of the conditions of justice experienced by people outside of North American majority culture and an active inquiry into how global citizens must work to improve those conditions.
