FALL SEMESTER
ACADEMIC AND ADVISING CONNECTIONS
Form study groups within your classes to make connections with your peers.
Meet with your "The Reflective Woman" (TRW) instructor throughout fall term – discuss the results of the College Student Inventory and identify resources to get you on the right track for success.
Connect with TRW course and the on-campus resources that support this important course, including Weekend College Office, Campus Ministry Center, performing arts events, Career Development, Student Center events, Core Convocations and Community Work and Learning.
Build your academic skills at the O'Neill Center for Academic Development.
Meet with your advisor in October to select courses for the remaining academic year.
Explore January-term options with your advisor.
CAREER DEVELOPMENT
Attend the Career Opportunities Fair in October. Visit with prospective employers and internship site hosts.
Find your academic and career direction. Consider registering for INDI 2000 course, "Career Development for Women" in winter semester. Include this course with your other winter term classes.
SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT
Cultivate your spirituality through Sunday morning Mass or the evening ecumenical service, prayer and praise gatherings, retreats, faith-sharing groups or evening prayer. Develop faith-in-action through volunteering and justice activities. Contact Campus Ministry Center.
COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
Connect to campus life. Get involved in the Weekend College Student Advisory Board, clubs, service-learning opportunities, performing arts, theatre, art gallery and music performances, campus events and utilize resources within the Student Center and Activities Office.
Establish relationships with faculty and staff outside the classroom.
Attend the annual Activities Fair in September; join an interesting club or organization.
Connect with Access and Success for information about services for students who are parents.
Take advantage of the Butler Center and all that it offers – fit in a workout before or after classes or join intramural events.
WINTER SEMESTER
ACADEMIC AND ADVISING CONNECTIONS
Challenge yourself academically by working to achieve Dean's List.
Work with the Office of Global Studies to plan a study-abroad experience – short-term experiences are available.
Explore opportunities for research and teaching assistantships through the Centers of Excellence and the Student Center and Activities office, Assistantship Mentoring Program (AMP).
Meet with your academic advisor in February to confirm courses for spring term.
Attend the college-wide Money Management speaker series to learn important financial management skills.
CAREER DEVELOPMENT
Meet with a career counselor and develop an individual career plan. Assessment tools and inventories are available to assess your interests, values, skills and academic areas of focus.
Connect with the Career Development Office to get in touch with graduates in your career field. Evening appointments are available for WEC students.
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Act on St Kate's commitment to justice through service-learning opportunities such as Volunteers in Action, justice learning outreach trips coordinated by Campus Ministry and America Reads coordinated by the Office of Community Work and Learning. Develop a lifestyle of volunteering now.
