Complete
an internship experience or consider a second internship.
Engage
in the Global Search for Justice; study and reflect on social
justice issues. Consider choosing a section that offers an off-campus
learning component.
Put
finishing touches on your portfolio, highlighting accomplishments
in your major and in your co-curricular experiences. Consider
creating an electronic portfolio; contact Career Development
for a schedule of e-portfolio development workshops.
Assume leadership roles in your major courses.
Prepare
to graduate by reviewing the Degree Checklist from the Registrar's
Office.
If you plan to attend graduate or professional school, make
sure you are aware of deadlines and application procedures.
Attend one of the Twin Cities Graduate School Fairs offered
during the fall. Contact Career Development for more information.
Attend
the yearlong "From Backpack to Briefcase" programs,
sponsored by Career Development. These programs and workshops
help seniors successfully make the transition from the academic
environment to the professional work environment.
Tke advantage of support services, including
MIPS (for multicultural and international students), Personal
Counseling, Access and Success (for student parents), Health
and Wellness, and Disability Services.
Enter the job search process by participating in important networking
opportunities in the Career Development Office -- connect with
alumnae/i of St. Catherine's and attend college nights sponsored
by professional organizations. Make an appointment to meet individually
with a career counselor.
Visit the Career Development Office for help with refining your
professional resume, to learn effective interviewing skills
and to learn how to articulate the values of your liberal arts/professional
education.
Participate in the Minnesota College Job and Internship Fair,
the Vitual Job Fair and the fall College of St. Caherine Career
Opportunities Fair to network and interview with employers.
Connect with professional organizations as a student or professional
member.
Mentor other students for leadership roles within the student
organizations to which you belong.
Prepare to assume independent financial responsibility by understanding
and planning to repay your student loans.
Complete
the "Declaration of Intent to Graduate" form by May
15 if you are planning to graduate in Decemeber and by November
30 if you are planning to graduate in May. The "Declaration
of Intent to Graduate" form is available through the Registrar's
Web site.
As you prepare for graduation, celebrate all your connections
to the college, including mentoring relationships with faculty
and staff and lifelong friendships with your classmates.
Become oriented to the Alumnae Association and learn how to
become an active and supportive alumna of the college -- volunteer
to speak to classes, host an intern, provide a "Shadow"
experience, offer informational interviews and join the thousands
of active members who continue to support the college.
