TASKS FOR EVERY SEMESTER

CONNECT WITH YOUR COLLEGE AND CLASSMATES

Use KateWay, the College's portal, to navigate through your life at St. Kate's with ease. See how easy it is to find information about the College. (kateway.stkate.edu).
Check your Lotus Notes e-mail account at least twice each week. The College of St. Catherine Lotus Notes system is the official communication system at the College, and you are responsible for reading, understanding and responding to any information received via e-mail.
Find your campus mailbox and check it frequently.
If you already have your own health insurance, sign the electronic insurance waiver on KateWay by the specified deadline each fall to avoid being charged. This electronic form is located on KateWay on the "CSC Information" tab under "Student Resources." Click on link to waive Health Insurance. Questions? Call 651.690.7831.
Connect to campus life through involvement in clubs, organizations, student government, campus events and programs (MAIN Room 331).
View Daily Update on KateWay to learn about events taking place on both campuses, and attend events that interest you.
Volunteer in a field of study that interests you to gain experience and make connections with professionals.
Apply for student employment positions through KatieClick (our job and internship database). Log in from the Career Development website.
Get involved in the programs and services of the Multicultural and International Programs office (MIPS) and meet other students from diverse backgrounds (MAIN Room 119).
Use the inter-campus shuttle to explore the St. Paul campus and take advantage of its facilities (Library, Butler Center and more). The schedule is available on KateWay home page, under "Schedules."
Act on our community commitment to justice through service-learning opportunities such as America Reads, justice learning outreach trips or other programs offered through Community, Work and Learning and the Campus Ministry Center.
Stop in at the Career Development Office or log on to the Career Development website to learn about career counseling services, print and online resources, career workshops and our job and internship database, KatieClick (EDUC Room 359).

Prepare for the yearly April 15 priority financial aid deadline by completing your FAFSA and investigating scholarship opportunities. Questions? Call 651.690.7805.

ADVISING AND REGISTRATION

Get to know your academic advisor. Make sure that you understand the requirements of your intended program.
Prepare for registration each semester. Immediately following midterm break, go to "My Education" tab on KateWay, then click "Academic Profile," and click on "Holds" to see if you have any holds on your record that would prohibit you from registering. Resolve any hold immediately.
Make an appointment and meet with your academic advisor prior to registration to plan your next semester's class schedule. Watch your e-mail for information on pertinent dates.
Complete course registration and print a copy of your schedule of classes by going to KateWay: click on the "My Education" tab. Under "Student Information," click on "My Schedule."
Make sure your Catherine Connection folder contains an undated copy of the following:
  • Program Requirements form (available outside MAIN Room 240)
  • Transfer Evaluation (if you have transfer credits from another institution)
  • Letter of acceptance, including the conditions of your progression into the professional program of your choice
Check your grades each semester using KateWay: go to "My Education" tab and click on "My Grades."
If at anytime you are interested in exploring or taking course work on the St. Paul campus, discuss your options and the registration process with your advisor.

STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS

If you are a student parent, meet with the Access and Success staff to identify effective strategies for balancing family, academics and work life (EDUC Room 361).
If you are a student with a physical, learning, psychiatric or other type of disability, meet with the Supportive Services Coordinator to arrange for any accommodations you wish to use (EDUC Room 370).
If you are a student who speaks English as a second language, meet with the ESL Specialist in the Learning Center to find out what special services are available to assist you academically (EDUC Room 370).
Build your academic skills in the Learning Center (EDUC Room 370).
Connect with your classmates to create a diverse, supportive study group.
Challenge yourself to maintain the highest grade point average (GPA) you can; a good GPA can open up options for you if you decide to continue your education in the future.
Familiarize yourself with resources in the campus Library and find a quiet place to study (MAIN 4th floor).
